Have you ever had a baby goat fall asleep in your arms?
If the answer is no, I’m going to encourage you to fix that.
Here’s how to remedy it: head to Rock Bottom Farm in Richmond, Maine, where each Spring they offer the opportunity for visitors to snuggle their Nigerian dairy goat babies. There is one date left that is not fully booked, and if I were you, I’d snag a family ticket (the $25 covers 2 adults + the children residing in your household) for the final snuggle session on: Saturday, April 27th from 11:30AM-1:30PM.
My family snuggled close to a dozen sweet babies - some just ten days old! As soon as they felt comfortable, nestled in close to our warm bodies, they’d drift off to sleep. We swayed and rocked them, just like a newborn baby, finding it impossible to put them back on the ground.
Meanwhile, the adult goats mingled throughout the barn, checking in on their babies, searching for head scratches. Occasionally, one of their youngsters would jump onto their backs, eager for some playtime.
In addition to their goats, this family farmstead takes care of registered IKHR registered kunekune pigs and a flock of laying hens - and we got to visit both as an added bonus.
The snuggling sessions help to socialize the goat kids - and also help pay farm bills which often grow bigger during kidding season. Not only is this the perfect activity for all ages, but the money from your ticket will be put to very good use.
Happy snuggling!
