Did that subject line get your attention? Thought so.
Because, really, does a better combo for a perfect Maine evening exist? If you have chosen to live in Maine, you’ve also chosen to fully embrace winter. Layering up, getting outside and finding the fun is key for surviving (and thriving) during the frigid temps.
And when I think of locals season - when reservations are easier to come by and the Old Port streets clear - I think of Flanagan Farm. Just 25 minutes outside Portland, Flanagan Farm has committed to celebrating winter by offering events and dinners that cater to their neighbors, friends, Mainers. Their Sip‘N Skate nights, in particular, offer a little something for every type of adventurer.
Grab your ice skates (or snowshoes for some forest exploration), your kiddos, favorite pals and head to Buxton. Wind up the path through the woods and you’ll find fire pits blazing, music playing, a mobile cocktail bar and of course, an outdoor wooded ice rink.
Full bar menu is available outside - along with hot apple cider + s’mores for the fire pits. You’ll skate alongside couples, families, and brave grandparents pulling grandkids in both hands. A mix of newbies and seasoned skaters spinning as the sun sets.
When those fingers and toes need some defrosting, head into the barn to warm up.
Inside, you’ll find the Fire & Co team dishing up a Chips & Guac + Tacos. While you wait for your order, grab a drink and choose a board game. I lost pretty badly to my seven year old in a few competitive rounds of Candy Land.
The next Sip’N Skate is set for Thursday, February 8th from 5-8PM. Weather dependent, of course, but otherwise: bundle up, BYO skates and grab a spot by a fire pit. If you miss snagging tickets (there are only a few left!) - subscribe to their newsletter to be the first to know of future added dates.
As this newsletter enters it’s second season (woo!) - I’d love to hear from you!
